Between the Schlei and the beautiful Baltic Sea
The Schwansen region is unique as a holiday and weekend destination, as it’s located right between the Schlei and the Baltic Sea.
That means you can do any water sport imaginable here: swimming (closest beach/Schlei in Bienebek, 2km, walking distance), sailing (e.g. in Arnis, Germany’s smallest town, by bike/ferry 24min), canoeing, SUP, kite surfing (Weidefelder Strand), fishing etc.
This area of Schwansen is full of quiet family farms of golden wheat. If you are here during harvest season, kids love watching the combine harvesters.
Our house is located in the middle of the fields, in an area with only 5-6 houses around. This is a perfect place to relax and get away from it all. But if you want some company there are plenty of country restaurants and activities to do.
There is also a natural reserve Naturpark Schlei and plenty of places to hike. This unique landscape nestled between the Schlei and the Baltic Sea is one of Germany’s best-kept secrets.
Fields of gold
You are also just a short drive or cycle away from Kappeln an der Schlei, in Schleswig-Holstein. There are some great fish restaurants in Kappeln, museums, churches and shops to visit. When you book the house, we will send you the Schleihaus Sensby guide for more information and ideas about what to do with your family.
The Viking museum Haithabu, in Schleswig is a definite highlight for kids, with a real-life Viking village (around 30min by car).
Another great day trip is taking the Angelner Dampfeisenbahn gGmbH steam train from Kappeln to Süderbrarup. (Check online for dates/tickets).

Schlei, Schwansen and Schleswig
The sea rejuvenates me, my kids, our friends. You can’t help but relax, forget about your to do lists and just kick off your shoes.
You will be spoilt for choice with beaches here. There are multiple stunning beaches, all just a short trip from the house.

At Schleihaus Sensby you will experience a calming, thoughtfully designed space that works for families with kids.
We may be remote hosts but can be reached via messaging at all times and we have someone close by who can assist if the need should arise.
We won’t be there to greet you or interact during your stay, and the house is self-check-in. We speak English and German.
